As the crow flies, this run area is only about 4km North-West from our frequent run-sites around Hulu Rening, but is reached by going a few km further up the old Ipoh Road, beyond Batang Kali and just past Rasa.
It's a similar driving distance as Hulu Rening, but I'd allow 5 minutes more for the unfamiliar location.
Directions
Follow the North-South highway to Rawang, taking the Rawang exit.
After the toll, turn right and by-pass Rawang town to get onto the old Ipoh Road (highway 1) going North, towards Serendah and Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB).
[ To by-pass the potential Rawang jam, you can also go one stop further up the N-S highway if you want, exiting at Bukit Beruntung, and then follow signs to join the old Ipoh Road at either Sungei Choh (just South of Serendah) or Rasa (between Batang Kali and KKB) ]
Continue North through Serendah and you'll reach Batang Kali (where we usually turn right for the Ulu Yam Baru run-sites).
At the main Batang Kali traffic lights, keep straight (North) on the old Ipoh Road, towards KKB and Ipoh, for about 4.5 km.
Watch out for the "Ipoh 152 km" milestone, and 500m later turn onto Jalan Ampang Pechah, towards Kuala Kubu Bahru and Ampang Pechah. Set your trip-meter here.
If you cross a bridge over the main Sungei Selangor, you've gone too far.
[ If you went via Bukit Beruntung and Rasa, keep straight through Rasa to hit the old Ipoh Road, and then turn left. It should be less than 1km up the old Ipoh Road to the right-turn ]
At 2.0 km turn right into the housing estate Desa Rening Jaya.
At 2.3 km, at a T-junction, turn right.
At 2.4 km turn left onto dirt track road.
Cross metal bridge and park at 3.5 km. Hare's vehicle BFP 8361.
On-On - Restaurant 218 Serendah
Go back to the main road and once you exit the housing estate turn left towards Kuala Lumpur.
After 2 km turn left onto the old Ipoh Road, towards Rawang and KL.
Pass through Batang Kali (about 4.5 km).
In Serendah turn right at the traffic lights with the BHP petrol station on your right.
Go underneath the arch.
After 600m take the left fork.
At 1.0 km at the end of road park near Restaurant 218.
